Welcome to the first instalment of my Japan travel blog series! As I embark on this incredible journey, I'm excited to share the highlights of my trip with you, starting with our unforgettable first day in Tokyo. From cherry blossoms in Chidorigafuchi Park to the famous Shibuya Crossing and a delicious vegan meal, our adventures were off to a fantastic start.
Chidorigafuchi Park: A Blossom-Filled Wonderland Our journey began with a visit to the enchanting Chidorigafuchi Park, located near the Imperial Palace in Tokyo. This sprawling park is known for its stunning cherry blossoms, or sakura, which paint the landscape with delicate shades of pink and white during the spring season. As luck would have it, our trip coincided perfectly with the cherry blossom bloom, making this experience even more magical.
Walking along the serene moat that encircles the park, we were surrounded by a sea of cherry blossom trees in full bloom. The picturesque setting was perfect for leisurely strolls, taking photographs, and joining locals and tourists alike in traditional hanami (flower-viewing) picnics. The sight of sakura petals falling gently on the water's surface was nothing short of mesmerising.

Shibuya Crossing: Where Chaos Meets Order After our serene morning at Chidorigafuchi Park, we made our way to Shibuya, one of Tokyo's most vibrant and bustling neighbourhoods. The iconic Shibuya Crossing is a must-see for anyone visiting Tokyo, and it did not disappoint. As we stood at the edge of the crossing, the chaotic rush of pedestrians at this world-famous intersection unfolded before our eyes. It's a true spectacle of organised chaos.
The experience was exhilarating, and we joined the throngs of people crossing the street in all directions. Amidst the bright lights and towering buildings, we felt the energy of the city pulsating through our veins. The Shibuya Crossing is a remarkable representation of Tokyo's harmonious coexistence of modernity and tradition.
Vegan Delights at a Shibuya Restaurant Following our adventure at Shibuya Crossing, we were ready to refuel and discover the culinary side of Tokyo. We opted for a vegan restaurant in Shibuya, which may seem like an unconventional choice in a country known for its sushi and ramen. Still, the experience was absolutely delightful.

The restaurant offered an array of vegan options, and we decided to try their signature dish: falafel served with fresh, colourful salads and tahini sauce. The flavours were a pleasant surprise, and the creativity in crafting these vegan delights left us wanting more. It was a testament to the culinary diversity you can find in Tokyo, catering to all dietary preferences.

Shibuya Sky: A Panoramic View of Tokyo As the sun began to set, we made our way to Shibuya Sky, an observatory perched high atop the Shibuya Scramble Square building. The stunning 360-degree views of Tokyo's skyline took our breath away. We marveled at the city's labyrinthine streets, the glowing billboards, and the Tokyo Tower on the horizon.
It was the perfect end to our first day in Tokyo, as we watched the city transition from day to night. The beauty of Tokyo's sprawling urban landscape stretched out before us, making it easy to appreciate the city's unique blend of tradition and innovation.
Our first day in Japan was filled with memorable experiences, from the ethereal cherry blossoms in Chidorigafuchi Park to the chaotic charm of Shibuya Crossing and the culinary delights of a vegan meal. As we looked out over the city from Shibuya Sky, we couldn't help but feel grateful for the opportunity to explore this incredible destination.
Stay tuned for the next instalment of my Japan travel blog series, where we'll dive into more adventures, cultural explorations, and mouthwatering cuisine. Japan has so much to offer, and I can't wait to share it with you. Arigato, and until next time!
